Y-CMK11 Surface Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect Comprehensive Experimental Instrument
The surface magneto-optical Kerr effect experimental system mainly consists of an electromagnet system, optical path system, main control system, optical experimental platform, and computer.
1) Electromagnet System
The electromagnet system mainly consists of an electromagnet, sample holder, Gauss meter probe holder, etc. The electromagnet is placed on the base platform, and the sample holder in the middle can rotate, allowing measurement switching between polar Kerr effect and longitudinal Kerr effect.
2) Optical Path System
The optical path system mainly consists of a semiconductor laser, two adjustable diaphragms, two Glan–Thompson prisms, a converging lens, a photodetector, and a quarter-wave plate. All optical components are fixed in housings and connected to the optical base by stainless steel columns. The optical base can be fixed on the rotating arm using M6 hex socket screws.
The semiconductor laser outputs at a wavelength of 650nm and is equipped with a focusing lens at the head. During the experiment, the lens should be adjusted to minimize the diameter of the laser spot on the sample.
The adjustable diaphragm is in the form of a rotating disk with 10 holes of different diameters. Another adjustable diaphragm is installed in front of the photodetector to reduce stray light interference in the experiment.
The Glan–Thompson prism rotating disk has a scale resolution and is equipped with a micrometer head with a 10mm range and 0.01mm resolution. The rotating disk converts angular displacement into linear displacement and must be calibrated before the experiment.
The converging lens is a compound lens.
The photodetector is a silicon photodiode with an adjustable diaphragm in front and is connected to the main unit via a cable at the back.
The optical axis direction of the quarter-wave plate is marked on the housing. The outer rotating disk can be turned, and the angle measurement resolution is provided.
3) Main Control System
The main control unit of the surface magneto-optical Kerr effect experimental system mainly consists of the optical power meter section, Kerr signal section, and scanning power supply section.
The optical power meter section includes the optical power meter, preamplifiers for optical and magnetic signals, and the laser power supply.
4) Optical Experimental Platform Section
The FD-SMOKE-A type surface magneto-optical Kerr effect experimental system platform adopts a rotating arm design, centered on the platform carrying the electromagnet. Two arms for mounting optical components can freely rotate around the platform center.

The Michelson interferometer is a crucial instrument in physics—it not only confirmed Einstein’s postulate of the constancy of the speed of light, but also demonstrated that light can propagate and exhibit interference without requiring a medium—meaning that the so-called "ether," once thought to permeate space, does not exist. Yet, this groundbreaking discovery simultaneously gave rise to a lingering puzzle in physics (often referred to as "a single dark cloud"): if there’s no ether—no medium—how exactly does light travel? And more specifically, how does light produce interference in the first place? As Albert Einstein once remarked, "I’ve always regarded Michelson as an artist among scientists; his greatest joy seemed to stem from the sheer elegance of the experiment itself and the masterful precision of the methods he employed." To scientists, the Michelson interferometer is not just a scientific tool—it’s also a remarkable work of art. For both functionality and aesthetic appeal, the LGS-2 portable Michelson product comes encased in a sleek, transparent acrylic display box, offering dual protection: it shields the instrument from dust while transforming it into a captivating piece of art. After all, this device aims to balance practical utility with artistic value.
A quantum computer is a machine capable of performing quantum computing, leveraging the principles of quantum mechanics to carry out mathematical and logical operations, as well as process and store information. Theoretically, it is a physical system that uses quantum bits (qubits) as its fundamental storage units, with quantum dynamical evolution forming the basis for information computation. Currently, the main technological approaches can be categorized into six types: superconducting, ion-trap, photonic quantum, neutral atoms, silicon spin, and topological.
